Throwing a party for your child can be a lot of fun, but there are things you should think about in addition to food and location. There are other people and issues to consider when having a birthday party.

Do: Have a Theme

The theme can be as simple as “birthday party” with some streamers, balloons and a banner that says “Happy Birthday.” Or you could go further and have a character your child likes as the theme. Or a color theme. But don’t have people walk into your home or other location (unless it’s a restaurant where you probably can’t do much) like they would at any other time of year. If it doesn’t seem to be a special time to your family, it won’t be special to the guests. Themes don’t have to cost a lot of money, it’s just minor decoration, most of which you can find at a party supply store or a dollar store.
